Hanagasa

A couple of months ago, Dana and I ate at a new fun little restaurant, the Hanagasa. Here is their tasty menu!

Other than the pictures in the menu, we didn't really know what we were getting other than soba with pork. The white filets in there? Well, that is called a fish cake. I have no idea what it is (other than a fish cake) but I really really don't like it. It is a bit spongy and way too fishy and just plain...well, weird.

But the rest of the soba is great. Yummy noodles, wonderful broth and some nice slabs of pork to gnaw on.

They also had this most delicious rice.

And one of my favorites, edamame beans. I buy them at the store and make them (and devour)them at home but they just don't ever taste just like the perfect ones you can get at a restaurant.

This is the outside of the restaurant. A lotus flower hat. It is unique to Okinawa and is an actual hat (not this size though obviously) that is worn in traditional dancing; love it.

I just love the architecture here; it is so perfect.

The statue was neat-o too. It is amazing that something so fierce looking is also so beautiful (but don't tell him I said that).

I also am finding beauty in, well...carp; though they are called "koi" here. It is said that they represent strength of character. They are everywhere and very well fed, though this group was in quite a frenzy as we walked over the bridge.

One of the best things here? The great translations they do; I really enjoy it. It is fun and honestly, just cute.

Darn! I started a comment and ran out of time.

I wanted to say what a beautiful place this appears to be and looks good too (always a plus - wink, wink). You do a great job of taking pictures (as always). I love the little hat. :)

Oh, I went on Okinawa Hai after Wendy mentioned seeing your picture under "Okinawa World". I LOVE that picture with the snake ... so funny. I missed seeing you in the picture, though I can understand your love (or lack of) for those creatures. :)
